Micah Artz is opening a new basketball club on Mondays for students to enjoy every Monday the new club will be open for people who wish to play 3 vs 3 games with other people within the flex. Artz said his hope for the flex was for 32 people to join so that there could be eight teams of four facing off in 3 vs 3s with a substitute.
Student Kevin Sweitzer, one of the members of this new flex said, “This flex is great for those who wish to be active and play basketball.” Everyone was running around having fun while competing against each other and having a ball. This flex was placed at such a time because “The day and time was the only slot remaining to host such a club,” said Artz.
The teams have now been settled, they are Nutter Butters, Rim Rattlers, Hoop Havoc, Dribble Dynasty, Cool Dogs, Court Commandos, Slamurais, and Triple Threat. I had gotten an interview with one of the more outspoken members of the Cool Dogs Drew Graver-Barnouski team asking them who they believed would win and lose the tournament. “…Believe that Hoop Havoc will win the tournament” When asked about who he believed would lose, he pointed me towards the Court Commandos team.
Though not everyone was there to play basketball, student Jaydn Weller who was sitting on the bench for most of the flex said that he had only entered the club because he needed somewhere to fill a flex. The club is still getting organized for the year, but Artz hopes to get started on the tournaments soon. He said, “There wasn’t any difficulty other than getting people to wear sneakers.” The basketball club at BSHS is currently open to anyone who wishes to join.
